Cypress Assistance Ministries is a faith based organization that serves individuals and families in financial crisis, those on the brink of homelessness, the elderly, the unemployed and anyone that needs hope for a better future. Unexpected events such as illness, separation, job loss, and family crisis can be overwhelming, and that’s when CAM steps in. Assistance ranges from financial help with rent or utilities, food, furniture, clothing and household goods to providing job counseling services and job leads. Our goal is to restore our neighbors, regardless of religious or ethnic background, to self-sufficiency. In addition, CAM provides school supplies, holiday meals, and toys at Christmas for our neighbors in need.
In faith and partnership with the community, Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) turns stumbling blocks into stepping stones by making resources available to individuals and families facing adversity.
Cypress Assistance Ministries was founded in July of 1990 as the ministry of a local church, serving macaroni and cheese meals from the backseat of a car. Within a year CAM was its own entity, with nonprofit status in place, poised to grow. Today, we are a part of the culture of the Cy-Fair area and the rich history of our ministry is testimony to the willingness of the community to help their neighbors in crisis and to continue to do so as we move into the future. What started out as a dream over twenty-five years ago became a reality, and to this day continues to evolve through the support and dedication of many past and current individuals, families, congregations, businesses and organizations. Our mission is clear: helping those in need move into self-sufficiency.
CAM serves an area encompassing four zip codes – 77065, 77095, 77433 and 77429 – and job assistance is not limited by zip code. Within the area we serve there are over 16,000 individuals living below the poverty level, and more than 6,000 of these are children. Over 50% of the students attending Cy-Fair schools receive free or reduced price lunches, and a full 25% of the children in our area don’t know where their next meal will come from when they are not in school. CAM partners with local churches and organizations, resulting in effective and efficient care for the community while avoiding duplication of services. We continually encourage input, evaluate the needs, pull together, and in turn, strive to offer programs that best serve those who need our assistance.
CAM is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and provides tax receipts for all donations.
