CAM's Volunteer Policy for Youth

Cypress Assistance Ministries appreciates young volunteers and the role they play in serving our community! Below are guidelines for volunteering:

 

16 years and older

Volunteers 16 yrs & up may volunteer without adult supervision once they complete the volunteer application and tour*. No volunteer hours may be completed until these steps have been taken. Once approved, please call ahead to let us know when you would like to volunteer.

 

Hours available for student volunteers are as follows:

* Mon, Tues or Wed 10am-6pm or Fri. 10am-3pm. Students must work at least 2 hours at a time with a minimum of 10 hours overall.

 

Under 16 yrs

Young volunteers have so much to offer and there are many opportunities to serve CAM. Children under the age of 16 may not volunteer here at the building, but listed below are great projects to consider. Please contact Kelly Thomas at cam-kelly@sbcglobal.net for details.

  • Food Drives – All year
  • Paper drives – All year
  • Toy drives (seasonal)
  • New blanket drive (October)
  • Gently used children's coat drive (early Fall)
  • New or gently used shoe drive (anytime)
  • Easter baskets (limited need)
  • School supply drive (seasonal)
  • Birthday bags (anytime)
  • Baby bags, i.e. diapers, creams/lotions, wipes, etc. (anytime)
  • Host a mock Baby Shower for a CAM baby (call Kelly for details)
  • Build Flu Season Survival Kits with over the counter cold meds for our clients (call Kelly for details)

Members of NCL should follow established guidelines.

 

Youth Group volunteers

Group volunteer projects may be available and should be scheduled with Margo at 281-723-0300 at least two weeks prior to the date you wish to work. Due to space constraints, there may be a limit on the number of people that can work per shift and on the days available to work.
